The words translators and interpreters in English or penerjemah or juru bahasa (jurubahasa) in Indonesian may trigger different associations by different people. Translator (penerjemah) deals with the rendering of one language into another involving texts. A book/novel translator usually can be associated with this occupation. As for an interpreter or juru bahasa (jurubahasa) deals with sound/voice. The best example of this by Hollywood is reflected in the movie starring Nicole Kidman in "The Interpreter". Basically these two professions are the same, they help bridge communication of two different languages. Harry Potter can be enjoyed by many people across the globe thanks to the help of translators. In history the most famous exposure of interpreters were probably that of the Nuremberg trials of the Second World War. |
